Legendary Canter’s Kibitz Room on Fairfax Ave. in Los Angeles has been a hotspot, hiding place, and home away from home for celebrities, musicians and artists for generations. The Kibitz has had free live music almost every night of the week for decades. And the Randy Todd Band has been a part of it since 1998. At one point, Randy was booking the Friday night bands, as well as performing, and that meant that many of his friends and fellow musicians from the Berkeley years were able to have sets of their own, or to come up as featured guests. Michael Bizar, Ethan Hamilton, Samantha Stollenwerck, Hazel Aliaga, John Whooley, and others have brought their magic to the Kibitz stage, and helped promote the Los Angeles music scene with their fantastic talents.

For the Randy Todd Band, it all started 10 years ago with the release of Randy’s CD Downstream, which he toured in LA, beginning at Canter’s Kibitz Room and hitting other acoustic music venues like Highland Grounds, Molly Malone’s, and Genghis Cohen. He cross-pollinated talent with the Kibitz Room’s Sunday Open Mic Night during his own stint running the one at Cafe Laurent in Culver City back in 2004. Check out a Randy Todd Video shot and produced by Don Haderlein, of the RTB performing live at the Kibitz. The next Randy Todd gig at the Kibitz will probably be in January, 2009. Stay tuned for details!
